Emma Watson goes for gold

Emma Watson in Bottega Veneta at the New York premiere of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 Photo: EPA

Gamine, pretty, demure: adjectives you might use to describe Emma Watson, but predictable is not one of them.
For the New York premiere of the last Harry Potter film, The Deathly Hallows Part 2 , the 21-year-old stormed the red carpet in a beautiful, voluminous gown by Italian label Bottega Veneta.
Best dressed from the Harry Potter premiere
Unmissable in a figure-hugging linen bustier offset by a dramatic, amber satin skirt, Watson pulled out all the stops by co-ordinating her make-up to her fairytale dress.
Her dark, smoky eyelids were accentuated with carefully-positioned gold eyeshadow in the corner of her eyes, while flecks of gold leaf adorned the outer edges.

Watson's short hair, which she is in the process of growing, was slicked back with a side parting, a style that is fast becoming her signature.
The British actress picked a pair of earrings by American jewellery designer Lorraine Schwartz to complete her look.
The current cover girl of Harper's Bazaar and American Vogue is bidding a fashionable farewell to the Harry Potter franchise which has made her a household name and a multi-millionaire. Last week in London, she showed off her petite frame a gold and black minidress by Spanish designer Rafael Lopez at a photocall, and stole the limelight at the Leicester Square premiere in a pale blue, crystal-studded Oscar de la Renta ball gown.
HOW TO GET EMMA'S SMOKY, GOLDEN EYE
"Emma's darkly shadowed eyes go beyond smoky, they are on fire!" says Kate Shapland, Telegraph beauty editor.
"While the smattering of gold leaf at the outer corners gives the makeup an appropriate sprinkling of magic, the charcoal and black is like a nod to next season's palette - which promises to be darkly mysterious."
"Emma's makeup artist has not held back on black - she has built this makeup with layers of charcoal eye shadow, black eyeliner and lashings of black mascara, then allowed the gold pigment to bring it all to life.
"This look, which places focus on the eyes, only works when the rest of the makeup is low-key - so a slick of neutral lip gloss and a touch of blusher, that's all."
